Welcome

Welcome to the blog of Cherie Irwin, founder of Cherie Irwin Photography and CI Photobooth. I am so glad that you stopped in!

As we move along, you'll discover that this blog journeys through both my personal and professional life, and I usually have a lot to say! So prepare yourself. I will share photos and slideshows from our ultra fun photo booth, as well as photos from the weddings and portraits that I shoot, photo field trips, vacations & travel, my awesome friends and all of my wacky family that mean so much to me. Consider this my personal photo album and journal combined with business information for my current and potential clients. I hope that it gives you sense of who I am and what I'm all about.

St Louis Area Photo Booth Rentals

Photo booths have become ever popular on the wedding scene.  They engage guests throughout the evening, bringing out all of their creative energy as they quickly come up with a new pose for each click of the shutter.  Photo booths keep your guests laughing all night long, and often have them coming back for more.  Better yet, all of the memories created throughout the night live on forever in a host of photo strips that can be placed into a scrapbook.  This scrapbook provides a great alternative to the tradional wedding guestbook; this option ensures that you will remember your guests forever as you view their photo strip in your scrapbook and read the well wishes that they have left behind.  Unlike the traditional guestbook, your photo guestbook will likely make it’s home on the coffee table, rather than in a tired old storage box-never to be found again.

CI Photobooth is a St. Louis based Photo Booth Rental Company.  Our booths were uniquely designed from the ground up to provide users with a full featured photo booth experience with the single touch of a button.  Using state of the art digital technology, including professional digital cameras, strobe lighting, high definition monitors and ultra fast thermal photo printers, our booths deliver sharp, dramatic photos in your choice of color or black & white.  All rental packages include unlimited photographs, a professional on-site attendant for the duration of your event, and a CD/DVD containing all of the photos taken at your event.  In addition, we will host all your event photos on our website in a password protected gallery for 30 days following your event.  We also offer several different print options and custom graphics.

Below are a few samples of the layouts that we offer.

Devin-The Graduate

A little over a week ago, David and I brought the photo booth to Devin’s Graduation party at a nearby park in Lake St. Louis.  Devin and his family are great friends of ours.  So, it was exciting to set up at an event where we were surrounded by so many of our good friends.  It made for an outstandingly (is that a real word?) good time!  It was so much fun to watch everyone’s prints come out and see who came up with the most original poses.  We loved it when Devin’s great grandmother accompanied him in the booth to take photos.  I’m so glad that he will have those forever in his memory book.  I also loved the fact that I got an opportunity to “crash” a few photo sesssions.

Here are a few prints from Devin’s party.  I love the way that the graphics turned out on these prints with the theater marquee and the velvet curtain, sorry about the watermark…

John & Dae: photo booth love

David and I had the amazing privilege of bringing our ultra fun photo booth to John & Dae’s wedding reception at the Third Degree Glass Factory this past Saturday.  I say that it was a privilege because we had such a blast with everyone.  The location was hip & trendy.  John & Dae were just gorgeous, and the wedding party provided us with loads of laughs.  We saw lots of great poses, some were sweet & cute and others were zany & wacky.  The music was great and the wedding cupcakes were to die for!

Here are a few of our favorite shots from the night.

Tim & Ellie: nothing but love…

Nothing but love…that is the only phrase that comes to mind when I think of my favorite wedding photographers on EARTH, Tim & Ellie Burns.  Tim & Ellie also happen to be my very good friends, and they make me smile every time I see them or talk to them.

It came as no surprise that they were featured in The Knot: best of weddings 2008 as one of St. Louis’ top wedding photographers. The received only rave reviews, and The Knot bestowed their highest rating upon them…three stars signifying that Tim and Ellie always go Above and Beyond for their Brides and Grooms. They are in love with love, and they share an amazing passion for life. Blessed with talent and each other, they work together to tell a love story like no other. Tim and Ellie are truly unbelievable.

I’ve had the privilege of shooting with Tim and Ellie on a number of occassions, and I have come home with some amazing shots for my portfolio. They share a creative vision, meshing together almost seamlessly…something that only comes with time. If you are getting married and are looking for a photographer, I highly recommend that you pay Tim and Ellie a visit. You will not regret it. Visit them on the web at www.BurnsPhotographyStL.com or give them a call at their studio at (314) 962-7296.

New and Improved

Over the next couple of weeks, we will be rolling the new and improved version of our blog.  We will soon be merging our Photo Booth company with our Photography company.  So stay tuned for the updates.  In the meantime, please enjoy some of the funny pictures from our photo booth that will be popping up in the header.

Check back soon for more details about our Photo Booths.  We can’t wait to share, but there are a few things that we need to take care of first…mainly getting our month end accounting caught up.  Always so much to do, so little time.

Brayden, Brayden, sweet beautiful Brayden…

During Brayden’s stay in the hospital, my sister called me.  She coyly asked, “Whatcha doin’?”  I answered, “Working, in case you hadn’t guessed.”  Because I ignored my work and stayed over at the hospital the night before Brayden was born, all of my deadlines were past due.  I had Real Estate agents calling me all day to find out where the photos of their new listings were.  Come to find out that Raeann was calling to ask me if I could pick up an outfit for Brayden and bring it to the hospital.  It turns out that my mom left had already made the hour plus drive back home with the suitcase containing Brayden’s clothes.  Incidentally, the hospital staff wanted to take Brayden’s newborn photos for the hospital website within the hour.  I felt terrible because I couldn’t just leave my unfinished work behind.  And, the hospital staff couldn’t wait for me finish my work and then bring him clothes.  So, I suggested that they could take naked baby butt pictures of little Brayden, or wrap him in a blanket.  In turn, I told my sister that I would make it up to her by doing a super special photo shoot with baby Bray-Bray!

So, after Heather’s wedding, I opted to forgo the hour and 45 minute drive back home, and I stayed over at my Mom’s house so that I could do Brayden’s photo shoot the next morning.  We all slept in, much later than I might have hoped.  But, what can I say, after Heather’s wedding, even the babies were exhausted.  And, of course, I woke up with a pounding headache, Raeann felt terrible and Brayden was really congested.  Needless to say, we still got the job done.  While there are several photos that I still need to go through, I decided to cull through and pull out some of my favorites and post them so that my family will leave me alone…just kidding…

Without further delay, this is my sweet beautiful nephew Brayden…

Micah & Heather: I do

Standing tall, Micah looked like such a proud man as he looked up at his new Bride.  Heather, looking more beautiful than the fabulous location she chose for their ceremony, gazed back at him, equally proud to call Micah her husband, best friend, lover and the man that she will grow old with…and make quirky, yet gorgeous babies with!!!

In case you hadn’t guessed, I’m referring to my sister and her incredibly photogenic new husband.  I had the honor of preserving their beautiful, beautiful day for them in a way that no other could.  Filled with stress and angst, my entire family scurried to help Heather prepare for one of the biggest days in their lives.  We put together her flowers because nothing can match the incredible creations that all too often come from the hands of the ‘Parks’ girls.  (Sadly, Heather was our last Parks girl, and now she has taken the Toler family name).  My mother, sisters and a handful of Heather’s friends scurried to decorate the Reception Hall to make the place as beautiful as anyone could ever imagine.  My ‘oh so handsome’ brothers were compliant and fulfilled every request that any of the pushy women in my family made of them, and they did so without complaint or delay.  The groom and his posse worked tirelessly to spread gravel at the ceremony site to save many o’stilettos from sinking in the mud that had accumulated by nearly constant April showers.  And, my amazing husband, David, worked to help me assemble the Photo Booth that we had constructed to make Heather and Micah’s day even more memorable.

After all of the work was finished, the party got under way…and I was able to capture some of these images to share…Enjoy…

To Heather & Micah: I wish you all the happiness that the world can offer.  I sincerely hope that you are able to take the time to enjoy each and every day of your lives together and always look at each other the way that you did on your wedding day, with eyes full of love.  Micah, remember that Heather is always right.  And Heather, be sure to pretend that you are wrong sometimes…

Kingston and Kane…wombmates!

I feel so blessed to have the most gorgeous family at my camera’s disposal.  They are always obliged to pose as my models.  And the funny thing is, they never seem to mind.  Here’s the story, I’m the oldest of 6 children in my family.  I have 3 sisters and two brothers.  And due to a series of semi-tragic events, we have very few photographs of our childhood.  Perhaps this is why we have such wild imaginations and developed crystal clear memories.  We seem to hold on to every memory as if it were the only one we have.  However, as we all approached adulthood, we became snapshot crazy!  For each family event, everyone shows up with their shiny new digital cameras, and we all start snapping away.

But this time, I got to visit my beautiful sister, Ashley and with her unbelievably handsome baby boys last Saturday all by myself.  I’m so proud to be ‘Auntie Rie.’  So we found a room that boasts the most amazing light and put the twins through misery.  We dressed them alike, we undressed them….down to their birthday suits.  And, we put them in every position we could possibly think of.  They are 5 weeks old, and I really wish that we would have had the opportunity to do all of this sooner, but there were too many things that stood in the way.  Namely, that terrible, terrible flu.  Despite the fact that I didn’t get all of the shots that I had hoped for, we ended up with some pretty amazing stuff.

Because my paid jobs take up so much time, I haven’t had a lot of time to go through the images and put my final touches on them.  But I just couldn’t wait any more to post some of my favorites.  I’ll have more soon…I promise, but here are a couple that make me smile.

Here’s Kingston, sleeping…these boys hated being naked.  As soon as we covered them up, they fell asleep.

Here are the duo together.  I think that this is their first fight…  This shot is a little out of focus, but I couldn’t help but post their first fight.  We know they will be double trouble.

Much better.  They had their pacifiers and clothes.  They were truly little heartbreakers at this point…

Snow, again???

I’m so tired of snow.  It seems like we are getting a snow storm every week.  I long for the days of Spring and Summer, which seem to be much better for business.

Don’t get me wrong, snow is great for kids.  As a little girl, I couldn’t wait for snow to come.  I loved winter, and I was a huge fan of sledding and snow ball fights.  I definitely made my fair share of snowmen, and I was always grateful to get an extra day off school.  I still love a fresh coat of powder on a super fun ski trip, it pads my falls.  But, it doesn’t really work for everyday adult life.  So here is a synopsis of what snow means to me now….slippery roads, traffic jams, filthy cars, expensive car washes, blustery winds and standing outside with Bailey and Sophie in frigid cold tempertures urging them to do their poo-poos and go pee-pee.

Here are a few pics to give you an idea of the weather we are experiencing yet again in good ol’ MO…

This is Sophie outside of our house, trying to understand why it is snowing again…

Sophie and Bailey are waiting for me to stop looking at them with this big black box and let them in the house…I bet they are thinking, ‘doesn’t she know it’s cold out here’

Finally, inside and all warmed up…img_2168.jpg

Funny thing is, we have this Amyrillis in our Kitchen and it doesn’t seem to understand that Spring is still a few weeks away.  It is in full bloom, take a look at it in all of it’s amazing red glory…

Here’s another one from last night.  I love shooting with my 50mm f/1.4.  Can you believe that this was after dark and there was no flash.  That’s the power of the f/1.4.

CU soon,

Wow, my first blog post!

Wow!  I’m so excited to be writing my first blog post.  I can’t believe the day has come.  I still haven’t finished my customizations, so please don’t click on my links yet.  They won’t take you anywhere good.  But the thing is, I’ve got so much to say, yet so little time.  In the coming days and weeks, I’ll be posting about all the awesome and crazy things going on in my life and career now.

In the meantime, I want to say that I am so proud of my three sisters.  Heather, is getting married in less than two months, and she has yet to show her Bridezilla attitude as of yet.  She’s staying calm, cool and collected, despite her stress.  Stay tuned for her engagement photos.   Then, there is my other little sis, Ashley.  And, man was she a trooper.  She just gave birth to the most perfect little twin boys that I have ever seen.  They have super cool artsy names…Kingston and Kane.  C-Section babies are pretty, but with Ashley and Michael’s genetic code, these boys will be every girl’s dream when they grow up.  Stay tuned for pics.  I have hundreds already, and we’re doing their special newborn shoot on Saturday.  This will include photos of their super cool big brother Hayden, too.  And, my baby sister RaeAnn is having a little boy.  He’s due on April 15, but we suspect that he will be coming early.  Her doctor has her on bed rest because she is already having contractions and showing other signs that Brayden will be coming early.  We did a mini “belly” shoot a couple weeks ago, and we’re going to get some more shots this weekend!  I’m so excited.  She is such a beautiful little mommy-to-be.
